My Mima Xari

Uggggggggghhhh It’s just so beautiful! I literally wanted the Mima Xari since the 1st time I laid eyes on it 6 years ago, before I ever wanted a baby. In fact, I had the baby so I could get the stroller! And now that I have one, of course, I want to talk about it.

It took everything in me not to order the stroller 5 seconds after I peed on the stick and got a positive result. I thought I should call my husband But I waited  3 months to let the idea of being pregnant soak in and by then I was ready to shop for my stroller. I made an appointment at a local retailer that sells the Mima Xari. Even though I knew this was the stroller I wanted based on looks I knew nothing about its functionality. While I was tempted just to order it online I am glad I went to see it in person.

When you are a 1st-time mom shopping for your stroller it’s so exciting, it’s one of the things that really make you feel like “Oh my God, I’m going to be a mom”! But through the excitement make sure you take the time to make a decision based on your family needs.

The Mima Xari in carrycot mode.

Now, let’s talk about the stroller! When I went to the retailer he had the Snow White seat box on the black stroller chassis with the pink starter pack. It was beautiful. The 1st thing you should know when considering this stroller is that it essentially is sold in 3 parts, The Seat Box with the matching storage covers, foot cover, and canopy. The Chassis comes in 3 colors and you have to choose a starter pack which is the padded mattress in the carrycot, the padded seat with the 5 point harness for the seat box and the carrycot apron flap, this comes in a ton of colors!

The seat box is made of a leatherette fabric (not actual leather, like vegan leather) that is made really well, I mean it looks like leather! This makes it super easy to clean and makes it durable enough to take a beating…think TSA, they don’t care that you spent a fortune, its gonna get tossed around like a $50 stroller. The “leather” has the pebbling effect of rawhide (in photos it looks smooth but its not), it looks supple and luxurious. Certain color you will be paying more, here are the colors below:

The Chassis comes in Black, Silver, and Gold and comes with 2 fairly small storage compartments one in front and one in back. The front storage has a drawstring bag feature to help keep your things in when folding down the stroller. The storage covers will be the same color as whatever seat box color you have chosen. You will have both front wheel and rear wheel locking capabilities, the rear wheels lock and unlock with a tap of the foot, the front wheels will need to be locked by hand separately. Also to note the push bar will be covered in whatever leatherette color you chose for your seat box so it all matches nicely.

Inside the carrycot, removable foot cover

This Stroller is on the bulky side, it does not fold down small and I have to take the seat box off the chassis to fit it in the car, this stroller needs an SUV or something with a hatchback, When I had a car I could barely fit it in the trunk, now that I have an SUV I can fit the stroller in much easier!

Because you are spending so much money on such a gorgeous stroller, of course, you want to take it out as much as possible! And believe me, when you do it WILL turn heads, people go nuts over it, literally staring with mouths open, so you have to be ready for the attention it brings.

Things to note:

  • The tires are solid rubber, this might be important to you if you walk on rougher terrain. Some strollers, like the Stokke, use air tires and may get a flat from time to time.
  • The seat box reclines only when in the seat setting, not in the carrycot setting, also your little nugget can face you, or face out easily. The seat can also slide up or down on the chassis if you want him closer to you but honestly not that much around 2 inches.
  • When in the seat option, the carrycot is stored inside the seat, you simply unzip the seat shell to access the carrycot inside which breaks down flat for easy storage.
  • The canopy retracts with the push of the hand, pretty easily
  • Both the Push bar and the security bar across the baby lift and descend with the push of a button (2 buttons really, on each side that needs to be pushed simultaneously for it to do so.)

Front storage with drawstring bag.

I did not get any additional accessories, like the umbrella or footmuff. It does come with a rain cover which I have never used and I purchased a cup holder from another brand because mama likes a big cup of coffee and Mima’s was a bit small.

When I was ready to pull the trigger I decided that I wanted a gender-neutral color that was light and could transition from winter to summer. I can’t imagine having a black leatherette stroller in 100-degree weather! So I picked the Argento Seat box, on the Aluminum chassis with the black and white started to pack (see photos). A retailer will typically have color swatches for you to see and feel, I was not able to see a swatch of the Argento but I did see swatches of the other colors and I decided to go for it anyway. If you are unsure, and they do not have swatches you can request one.

The Mima Xari is a great city stroller, especially if you do not need to drive to get around and because it NEEDS to be seen. I wish I still lived in NYC pushing this bad bad boy around! I did end up getting another option for travel that made running around easier which I love just as much for different reasons.

In closing this stroller for me was a dream come true, I have a beautiful baby boy and I have a beautiful stroller to push him around in…I love it!

Ps: Some of my favorite responses to my stroller

  • Does it fly?
  • Is it powered by Apple?
  • Wow, that’s the Birkin of strollers!
  • Does it push itself?
  • Whoa!! that stroller is @#$%^&* awesome!

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this website.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times
it’s tough to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appearance.

I must say that you’ve done a superb job with
this. In addition, the blog loads super fast for me
    on Opera. Superb Blog!
